The Geostrategic Competition over the Middle East and the Far East

The Middle East has gained weight in U.S. foreign policy for several factors, mainly the region's energy resources and the international navigation routes. However, Trump stated that Israel is the only reason for which the U.S. remains present in the region. Although the U.S. is producing oil more than ever, it is shifting towards the Far East region in order to restrict China's expansionist plans, in addition to the U.S. attention to the South China Sea, which is rich in large oil and gas reserves, and plays an important role in world trade. Overall, in spite of the increasing importance of the Far East, the Middle East is still in possession of the geostrategic advantage.
