However, Trump stated that Israel is the only reason for which the U.S. remains present in the region. Although the U.S. is producing oil more than ever, it is shifting towards the Far East region in order to restrict China's expansionist plans, in addition to the U.S. attention to the South China Sea, which is rich in large oil and gas reserves, and plays an important role in world trade. Overall, in spite of the increasing importance of the Far East, the Middle East is still in possession of the geostrategic advantage.
